…and it doesn’t look like April outside. It’s gloomy, rainy and cold. Daylight Savings Time began yesterday, but it wasn’t really that noticeable since the clouds started moving in late in the afternoon. And today it’s been rainy and overcast all day. I planned to start exercising by taking Murphy for a walk at night now that there’s an extra hour of daylight. Not happening if I have to wear a heavy coat and carry an umbrella! Rain is predicted heavy duty tomorrow and off and on through next weekend along with chilly temps. Blah!
Came home from work early today. Feeling yukky. Went to lunch next door to the church at McCormick & Schmicks to celebrate a co-worker’s birthday. Had a crab pattie with some kind of cranberry sauce topping it. It tasted ok, but not great. Don’t know if that’s what is causing my stomach troubles, but wouldn’t be surprised. Hopefully this will be over with soon, and not some sort of a stomach flu that drags on.
I worked in the yard yesterday (during a small window of decent weather) finishing up trimming the bushes. Think I might have done too much as my legs are pretty sore today. At least it’s done for awhile. And now that I have the electric trimmer I can keep it under control so that it’s not so much of a chore. I think the last time I trimmed was last summer!
Since the weather was cold and rainy, I spent Saturday cleaning out old papers while watching NCAA basketball. I went through a number of file drawers and tossed out an unbelievable amount of old stuff. Most was stuff that I kept thinking I’d want/need someday or just stuff that got stuck in a folder when cleaning, planning to deal with it later. Well, later finally arrived! What a good feeling to be making a dent in all the stuff that has somehow accumulated over time. Getting started is the hard part. Feel I’m really going to make this happen now.
Found a bunch of interesting items from both Kevin’s and Patrick’s school years. The most amazing was from May 1980. It was an end of year evaluation for Kevin from his kindergarten teacher. At the time, Kevin was just a little over 5 years old. It said, “Kevin enjoys playing with others, especially outdoors, during which he engages in imaginative dramatic role playing games with his classmates.” Can you believe it? It all started back in kindergarten!
Watched the NCAA basketball finals tonight. UCLA lost. I’ve never been a UCLA fan and didn’t care all that much if they won or lost. But it would have been nice to have had an exciting game. Florida ran away with the game and it wasn’t even interesting. Probably just as well that it wasn’t all that exciting since all I really wanted to do was lay around doing nothing tonight. Still have the NBA finals ahead. The Lakers aren’t doing that great this year, so my time watching the tournament will probably be short-lived. Just as well. I have other things that need doing around here that won’t happen if I spend my time watching basketball.
