Hope everyone is having a Happy Easter. It’s dreary and cold here with rain expected later tonight. Feels more like Christmas than Easter. Patrick and Veronica will be coming over for dinner around 4 pm. Traditional dinner of Honeybaked ham, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, coleslaw, fruit salad and maybe a few other goodies if I get ambitious. Still have to dig around in the garage to find an Easter basket to stuff with candy.
Finished my taxes on Friday and e-filed them. Getting refunds from both the state and the feds. Will use the $$$ to pay towards credit card bills from the last trip to Ohio and Loki’s most recent vet bill. Sent in the last payment for Patrick’s hospital bill from last year for his kidney stone episode–when he didn’t have insurance! All in all, I am feeling much better financially. Am finally making a dent in a few things and feel somewhat confident going forward. *knock on wood* Still need to commit some cash to getting a new heating and a/c system put into the house, but not ready to deal with that right now…even though central air would be a welcome addition in a few months!
Am off work tomorrow (yay!) for Easter Monday. One of the many nice things about working for a church! Would like to do some gardening out back, but the weather forecasters are predicting rain : ( so don’t know if I’ll be able to do that. Will probably just sleep in and do a few things around the house that I’ve been putting off over the last few months. No doubt there will be a few phone calls/emails from those still working on their tax returns. It always happens…
Kevin and Soula headed out this morning for a trip to British Victoria in Canada. They’ve been there before and really like it as a place to just get away and relax. They get back to Seattle Wednesday evening and Kevin leaves on Thursday for a business trip to Austin, TX. He’s doing lots more business traveling lately now that their “Pirates” game is nearing it’s last leg with the release expected within the next year. Not sure yet whether he’ll be in LA in May for the E3 show. Would be nice to get to see him for a few days.
Time to get Easter dinner started. Hope everyone finds lots of Easter eggs…and gets big tax refunds!
