…or at least most of them are in! Got up early Sunday morning and headed out to Home Depot. Came home with 2 new roses (Peace and Christian Dior) that are beautiful as well as being very fragrant. Transplanted 2 other roses that didn’t seem to be doing well in their old locations. So I have 4 roses in my new flowerbed that was put in when I had the retaining wall replaced. Also got a couple of hydrangeas, some lavender daisies (marguerites) and various annuals.
The most exciting item, however, is something called a Cape Honeysuckle. It’s an evergreen vining shrub with orange/red trumpet flowers. It’s about 3′ tall right now and will grow quite large (8′-25′ tall) depending on how much trimming is done. It flowers Oct thru winter, so should be a great look for fall.
Am going to transplant about 12 chrysanthemums to the flowerbed along the back fence as they totally take over the front flowerbeds. I’d rather have them in the back where there’s more room. Will then put geraniums and a few annuals in the front. Still need to get the geraniums and a few more annuals for out front and in a side bed in the back. And then the major items will be done!
Thinking about putting in some basil and a few tomato plants along the side of the house, but have to figure a way to keep Murphy and the cats front digging there, which all of them like to do. Have tried a few fencing options in the past, but none are high enough to keep them from jumping over. May try some tomato cages…
Still have to do a bit of weeding along both sides of the house, but that can be done a little at a time in the evenings. And then it’s just cleanup, watering and maintenance. Can’t believe that I’ll have all the yard work finished and ready to go for summer. Will have a lovely backyard to retreat to once I start in on all my indoor summer projects!
I just wouldn’t know what to do with myself if I ever got all my “projects” totally finished!
