Summer came and went for a few days last weekend with temps in the 90’s allowing the pool to warm up a bit. Now we’re back in the 60’s and 70’s with no sun until late afternoon. They call it June Gloom on the tv weather forecast. It’s good for all my new plants in that they aren’t frying in the heat…and I don’t need to water quite as much since we’ve had a misty rain for the past few mornings. I’d prefer mild temps in the low 80’s, though, with the sun burning through the clouds earlier than 4 or 5 pm.
Guess I’ll do a bit of yard work this morning and take advantage of the cool weather to finish up. Most everything is done, with just a bit of trimming and putting in a couple more plants that I couldn’t deal with last weekend due to the heat. The yard looks better this year than it ever has, with colorful plants and flowers everywhere!
I’m excited for my first week of vacation over the July 4th week as I have lots of ideas for fixup projects. Probably won’t finish up everything I’d like to do, but will be happy just to get a few things done. Am actually going to make a to-do list today with the hope that it will help motivate me. With so many things to do, most of the time I just don’t know where to start. A list helps.
Watched another episode of “The Dog Whisperer” last night. Have been using many of Cesar Millan’s techniques with Murphy, and they really seem to work! He seems to be socializing better with Patrick’s dog, Floyd, so I’m going to try taking him to our new dog park to see how he does with a larger group of dogs.
Loki is still being a pain in the butt, however. Found him on the front porch one night last week towering over another dead rat. No doubt he would have devoured it had I not caught him. Additionally, I discovered another abscess on him. I was able to drain it myself and got him started on some antibiotics from the last time. Hopefully I won’t have to take him to the vet. All the other cats have mellowed out as they have gotten older. Not Loki. At 11 years old he’s still as feisty as ever!
Have put off starting the yardwork and housework long enough, so I’d better get busy and head out into the gloom.
