Patrick just called to let me know the power is out at their apartment in Sierra Madre, about 8-10 blocks from my house. People all over So.Cal. are without power, many of whom have been in the dark and without a/c or fans since Saturday. And the temps remain above 100 degrees every day. Don’t know how I’m going to sleep if we lose power here. Just plugged in my cellphone to get as much of a charge as possible before this happens, if it does.

At work today we turned off all lights that weren’t necessary and were lucky that we didn’t lose power. But who knows about tomorrow. Today a stage 2 power alert was issued. Next step is stage 3 where random emergency blackouts will occur. Since Pasadena has it’s own power plant, we’ve been lucky not to have been as adversely affected over the years as others on Edison service. I hope this holds true now.
