After three days off work, I am ready to be over this crud! Unfortunately, that is not the case. Am going into work tomorrow and will see how long I last. Will have to shut my door and post a quarantine sign on the outside to keep people away as I don’t want to be responsible for spreading this to anyone. One of the worst parts right now is the coughing up all the stuff from my lungs…and this results in very little sleep at night. So I’ll head off in the morning loaded with cough drops, Robitussin, and Vitamin B-100 (to keep me awake). But the absolute worst part is the fact that my nose is plugged and I can’t smell real well…and my night-blooming jasmine is in full bloom!!! Tonight the smell seems to be stronger so either there are lots more blooms or my sense of smell is returning.
Patrick has been here at the house off and on all week, packing up all his Burning Man Stuff, doing laundry, washing his car and hanging out a bit. He started taking “Airborne” on Monday with the hope that he won’t catch my bug or another on his trip to New York.
Lots of news regarding Patrick. First he quit his job with Dependable Computer Guys and got a new job the same day with Dreamhost, a web hosting company. He is thrilled with the new job as it is more of a casual atmosphere than what he’s had to endure at DCG–no dress shirts or ties! He begins work on 9/6. He gave one week notice at his old job, but they chose to let him leave the day after he resigned, but paid him through the one week–plus gave him pay for two weeks of accumulated vacation!
Tonight I drove Patrick and Veronica to Long Beach Airport where they should be leaving as I speak for New York City. Veronica’s brother is getting married on Friday and, in addition to attending the wedding and all the other family events, they will be doing a whirlwind tour of all the major attractions in NYC–Times Square, Empire State Bldg, Statue of Liberty, Ground Zero, Greenwich Village, etc.
They arrive back in CA Sunday night, and Patrick will turn around within a few hours and drive to Burning Man! A week later he’ll be back with a couple of days to recuperate before starting the new job. Whew!
Kevin and Soula started painting at their new house last weekend as well as moving some of their stuff. I think both are beginning to realize how much work they have in store for themselves…but I think they are happy to be making the place their own. The next 5-6 weeks should be extremely busy, and I’m sure they will be happy to have this moving/fix-up period behind them.
Well, off to bed with the hope of a restful night.
