To celebrate, I’ve spent a good portion of the day laboring in the kitchen. Woke this morning to find my sink and counters covered with ants! For some reason, we are having a terrible problem with ants this year. Found them entering through the corner of the kitchen window over the sink. These are new windows and are sealed tightly, but somehow the little fuckers are able to get in at the spot where the two windows come together. I left a coffee cup, a bowl and a knife on the counter last night and the ants were going nuts, swarming all over everything. So, after spraying them with bug spray, I had to wash down the sink, the counters, the walls and the window. And then decided to clean the stove really well as long as I was at it.

After all that laboring, I decided to take a nap in the bedroom. Probably should have finished what little bit of painting remains, but it was just too hot to do any more manual labor and the bedroom was the coolest spot in the house.

Speaking of heat, I’m tired of it! Seems the temps have been in the 90’s or 100’s since late June. It used to be we’d have 2-3 weeks of really hot weather each summer with the rest of the summer in the 70’s and 80’s….and with no humidity. This year, in addition to nonstop heat, it’s been humid as well. I am sooo looking forward to fall. Cold weather is not my thing, but right now I could handle a week or two of cold. Once again, Seattle will be a welcome respite at the end of this week.
