As I headed off to work this morning, I briefly thought about this being Friday the 13th, but felt that wouldn’t really have much of an impact on me. Wrong.
Finished paying the bills at work (51 checks), ran all the reports, gave the checks to be signed to one of the priests. Then realized I had one more check to do, so prepared that one…and in the process wiped out all the notepad data I had yet to send off to the bank for the first batch of checks. See, we have to forward basic information about every check we issue in order to protect against fraud. So, I had to go into the notepad program and re-enter all 52 checks by hand!
Then I heard from Patrick. He had to take the day off ’cause his car was making some weird noises. Took it into Whitie’s (our mechanic of 20+ years) and found out he needed all new brakes plus a new battery. Total cost = +/-$700.
After finally doing all the manual entries of the 52 checks I realized at 4:45 pm that some of the actual checks are missing. Finally track them down (still in the priest’s office) and get them to the person who takes our mail with about one minute to spare. Whew!
Had thought about getting a haircut on the way home, but decided just to go home as I was exhausted. One of the cats shit all over the kitchen floor, the mail included my property tax bill (almost $2700) and another unexpected bill.
Don’t ever think you are invulnerable to curses.Â
