I can finally post the news–Kevin and Soula are having a baby!  They went today for an ultrasound and, after hearing the heartbeat, they are going public.  I’ve known about this for some time (late Dec or early Jan) but couldn’t spill the beans until they were ready.

Soula is 9-1/2 weeks pregnant with a due date of (are you serious?) September 11th.  Really, though, how many people do you know that hit the predicted date?  And if they do, oh well.  I’m just hopeful that the baby is born on a date other than the birthday of one of my family members as half my family and lots of friends have September birthdays.  Doesn’t really matter, but nice to have your own special day.

Now I have to figure out vacation time and all that good stuff.  Do I go to Seattle just before the due date or wait till after the baby is born?  Will have to discuss all this with Kevin to see what he and Soula would prefer.  Don’t want to go too early and then have to come home before the baby is born, so am thinking I should make a reservation for just after the due date.  Not necessary to make the reservation just yet…

Good that they moved last year.  They have plenty of room for a nursery in the new house.  Now if they can just get their damn dogs under control!

I’m very excited to be a grandmother but know it will be rough having them so far away.  Good that I get 4 weeks vacation each year as I know I’ll be doing a bit of traveling back and forth to Seattle!
