What’s this about? Had to turn on the heat when I got up this morning but, at that point, it was just a bit chilly outside. Then it hit around noon. Dark clouds moved in and the wind started blowing…and then huge raindrops began to fall. The rain only lasted about an hour, but the wind kept blowing and got stronger as the day went on. Noticed lots of fallen branches on my drive home and found a huge branch from my neighbor’s tree in my driveway!
Patrick was here when I arrived home. He came by to check and make sure there were no problems around the house due to the wind. Nothing major other than the big branch in the driveway…at least that’s what we thought at first glance. Only when he was getting ready to leave did we notice the neighbor’s back fence that is being held up by the large bushes in my yard! We’re supposed to have the wind continue through the night and into tomorrow, so I hope the fence is still standing when I get home tomorrow.
I went to the neighbor’s house to let him know about the fence and he admitted it had been leaning for a long time. He said his pool had a big crack in it and the leaking water had undermined the ground under the fence. I knew he had pool problems that started last year but didn’t know it was that serious. His pool is only about half full right now and he hasn’t fixed it because of the cost (I think). I know how that is. Unfortunately, not fixing something as bad as a crack in your pool leads to many more problems. And so now he has to deal with the falling fence. Let’s hope the retaining wall hasn’t also been damaged.
By Thursday the temps are supposed to warm up and will be in the 80’s by Friday and Saturday. How nice to get this nastiness over with during the week while I’m stuck inside at work.
