Have decided to put in lots of perennials rather than annuals this year.  I’m tired of spending tons of money on plants that have to be replaced year after year.  While the perennials are initally more expensive, it is so worth it since I’ll be spending very little next year.  Went to a nearby nursery and got some plants that I’ve never tried before as well as some old fashioned things like phlox.  (My mother always had phlox in the yard.)

I had hoped to get almost everything planted today, but the heat got to me.  So I took a break to watch the NCAA basketball semifinals and then did about 1/4 of the planting.  Will get a lot more done tomorrow morning before it gets too warm.  What I’ve done so far looks absolutely fabulous!  Still need to trim the bushes along the back fence, but can do that next weekend if I don’t have time to get it done tomorrow.  Will be so nice to have all this done and be able to enjoy the yard.
