And so Easter is over. Patrick and Veronica were supposed to come for dinner, but only Patrick showed up. Veronica is sick with a bad cold and a fever. Knowing there was no way that Patrick and I could eat all that food, I started making a few phone calls. We wound up with Amanda, Vanessa and Rick joining us. After sending home leftovers for Veronica with Patrick, I have one meal for myself for tomorrow night…and enough ham for a couple of sandwiches…and LOTS of leftover pineapple upside-down cake! The cake was sort of good (a recipe from a coworker), but not like what I remember of my mom’s cake of the same name. I’ll take it to work on Tuesday and it will get devoured, so it won’t go to waste.
It was nice to have a table full of friends for dinner. And it’s really nice knowing that I don’t have to get up for work tomorrow…and when I do get up I’ll be waking to a somewhat clean house. Gotta clean up the dishes in the morning, but not much else to do. Since it’s still cold and rainy outdoors, I guess I’ll get busy and finish my taxes.
Am ready for the next summer holiday where it will be nice and warm and we can eat outdoors and enjoy food cooked on the grill. Mostly, though, I guess I’m really just ready for summer. I don’t know how Kevin and Soula can stand all the non-stop rain and gloominess in Seattle. It’s only been like this for two days (three after tomorrow) and I’m already going stir crazy. I just couldn’t stand to be cooped up in the house the way they (and all my family back East) are all winter. Guess I’ve lived in So.Cal. for too long…and I know I really am spoiled!

And amen to having Summer get here!
Glad you enjoyed it…and glad you were able to come over!
It isn’t ALWAYS this gloomy. Believe me, I get tired of it, too. Especially now that I’m home all day.
Oh I know it isn’t ALWAYS gloomy and rainy up there, but you have to admit that this winter has been a killer. Maybe you appreciate the nice weather once it eventually comes more than I do since we see the sun here so many days out of the year. Kinda nice for you, though, not having to venture out in the rain unless you choose to.
