I took part of the weekend off, went to Home Depot and Armstrong Garden Center, and bought plants and flower pots. I needed to do this for myself after one of the worst days I’ve had in a long time on Friday. On Sunday I repotted a bunch of the plants on my front porch and planted some impatiens in the bed across the front yard, in front of the garage. I hope they do well. They are called Victorian Rose and are a beautiful shade of deep pink.
I got a flowering bush called Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow. It blooms from spring through early fall. The blooms look kind of like those of dogwood, however, they start out deep purple, the next day they turn lavender, and the third day they turn white. Also, the blooms are very fragrant. I’m going to plant it in the backyard between the two bedroom windows since the recommended location is an eastern exposure. I also got something called Ramblin’ Petunia (I think it’s someone else’s version of the Wave Petunia) that I’m going to plant in some new hanging pots that I’ll hang outside the family room large windows. The petunias are a deep burgundy red color and I’m mixing them with some miniature hot pink trailing petunias called “Million Bells.”
While all this must seem like I’ve gone a bit overboard with plants (especially after all the planting I’ve already done this year), I find yard work to be very soothing. And I really, really needed soothing this weekend.
And then I spent Sunday evening working for a private client that I was supposed to finish up with on Monday. After working for them on Sunday night and Monday night, I was asked to do more tonight. The only good part was that the organization’s Treasurer (whom I just recently met) told me tonight that I was amazing and he understood why the church had me on board as part of their team. Nice to get a compliment for a change. I need to figure a way to have him tell this to some of the people who voiced not so favorable opinions about me last week.Â
