Last night I really needed to get some sleep. I had a meeting this morning at 7 am. So I got into bed and turned out the light. Loki decided to join me and curled up at my side and began kneading and purring. I tried to shove him aside with my leg, but he refused to move. So I pulled my arm out from under the comforter and reached down to push/pull him away. He was pissed. So he bit me. Not just a little nip, but a really hard bite on my hand–so fierce that I could feel my skin tearing.
I got up and saw blood spewing from my hand. There was one large, deep tear, two small punctures and a large puncture. The large puncture has become infected and severly swollen. In fact, the back of my hand looks like it’s been inflated. Thankfully I had a tetanus shot a few years ago.
Loki got his butt beat and I tossed him outside to spend the night on the front porch. And he will NOT be permitted to sleep on my bed from now on. Loki is by far the nastiest cat I’ve ever owned.

There’s not much that can be done about this. I was bitten by a cat a few years ago at a friend’s home and did go to the doctor with similar symptoms. At that time I was told that cat bites are not all that dangerous and that you pretty much just have to let them heal on their own. The swelling is down some this morning, so I’m guessing it will be fine in a few days.
