I was able to eat a substantial amount of food today–applesauce, some ginger cookies, saltines and about half a cup of chicken and stars soup. I also drank water and gatorade throughout the day. All seemed well as I headed off to bed tonight. I did notice, however, that I was feeling rather bloated and that my stomach seemed really full. I suspected this had something to do with the fact that I was finally able to put something more than pure liquid into my stomach and keep it there for an extended period of time.
Also, Patrick picked up two Rx’s for me today–one to cut down on the acid production in my stomach and the other an anti-nausea drug. The acid production is still happening, but my understanding is that it takes a few days for that drug to work. And the anti-nausea drug seemed to be working.
So I headed off to bed expecting all to be good. Woke up after two hours of sleep feeling really bad…and then the vomiting hit again, just as bad as it’s been all along.
What the hell is the problem here and how much longer will this go on?! It has now been 12+ days since my surgery and I still can’t keep any food down. I know my bowels and bladder are working, but I need for the damn food to pass through from my stomach in order for the process to be complete!
So I’ll start over again tomorrow. I don’t know what else to do. Am calling my family doctor tomorrow for a followup appointment with her. Perhaps she will have some advice. Needless to say, I am becoming more and more frustrated–which probably doesn’t help the situation.

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackSo maybe last night was just a ridding of my system of all the nastiness. I woke this morning at about 8 am feeling good! The only meds I’m taking are protonix (to help with heartburn) and the regular stuff I was taking before surgery. Had a small bowl of oatmeal for breakfast and will be drinking some vitamin water Patrick got me throughout the day. I just need to take it easy today with eating. I think that’s the key.
