My yard and flowerbeds are saturated…and my water bill will probably be exorbitant…but I think everything will survive for 10 days with no hose or sprinkler watering. I filled 8 containers with water that I’ll use to water with a sprinkling can and I’ll collect the cold water that runs while I’m waiting for the hot water to reach the shower/tub. Thankfully, the weather forecasters are predicting rain on Sunday and again next Thursday. So I think we’ll be okay.
My neighbor talked with the pool guy today and he turned off her hot tub filter during the water ban, telling her to turn her filter on manually if she plans to use the hot tub. Then he decided without confirmation from me to turn off my pool filter too! Now it’s a lot easier to keep a small hot tub clean than a large pool, and you don’t need to keep the filtering system running for very long with a hot tub. If my pool filter is turned off for 10 days I’ll have a ton of algae building up. And it irks me that he just decided on his own to turn off my filter. Needless to say, I turned everything back on tonight. I’ll keep an eye on it to make sure the water level doesn’t go too low. If it does then I’ll make the decision to turn it off. He keeps the pool nice and clean, but this isn’t the first time he’s made decisions without checking with me first. Hopefully he’ll get the hint when he comes next week and finds the filter has been turned on.
