Did you ever wonder whether your pets understand when you say something to them? Lately Murphy has been demanding attention and/or snacks by sitting at my feet and “crying.” I tell him no, but he just keeps it up, knowing that I will either pet him or feed him — or both.

Tonight I tried something different. Since Murphy is not all that fond of baths, when he started the whining I asked, “Do you want a bath?” Murphy’s tail stopped wagging and went between his legs as he backed off and hurried away to jump up to his spot on the couch!

He may not know what all the words mean, but he certainly knows that one! Amazing!
