I have 4 small trellis-type things made of heavy wire that are about 2′ high. They are a dark green shade and kind of decorative with the wire twisted at the top in loops. After talking with my sister, Sally, today, we decided these might work as a barricade to keep Murphy out of the flowerbed. So, I put them up. Guess what? Murphy can’t jump them and can’t squeeze through them! Now I have to try to find more since they only cover about 4′-5′ of the bed and it is lots longer than that. I think I bought them at OSH, but am not absolutely certain. Will head down there tomorrow to see if I can find some more.
I finished up all my planting today. Now if I can just restrain myself from buying more plants, I’ll be fine. Tomorrow will dig through the garage once again to see if I can find my electric drill. I need to mount some plant hangers at the back of the house as well as mount three more fence planters. I know the drill is out there somewhere, but it’s just not in plain sight amidst all the Burning Man camping stuff as well as all the junk that’s been stuffed in the garage to get it out of the house.
Today I talked with the gardener I used to have do my yard work. He has agreed to do my work once again at the same price I am paying my current gardener. The really good part is that he will also do my backyard work, including trimming all my bushes in the back! While the current gardener does a pretty good job, he charges extra to trim the bushes, so I’ve been doing them myself which is a real pain…literally. So I think I’m going to switch back to him. How nice it will be not to have to worry about trimming out back every few months. I’m looking forward to this, but not looking forward to firing the current guy. Oh well. While I love working in the yard, I’m really getting tired of the constant trimming and sweeping. I have enough to do just keeping the plants alive and well.
