Today is the first day of March. How can that be? Seems it wasn’t that long ago that I got all the Christmas stuff put away. Oh wait. Maybe it really wasn’t that long ago… I’m grateful that Jan and Feb are over though, as they are my two least favorite months of the year. All the year end tax stuff both at work and with clients means I am stressed out most of the time. Still have lots of accounting type work to do, but the stress level has dropped considerably. I’ve resigned from one of my private clients (too much work, not enough pay) so that should free up a good portion of my evenings and weekends.
After all the rain we’ve had over the past few months, the sun this past Saturday called me outdoors. I went to a nearby nursery and bought 3 new rose bushes and a flat of pansies. Spent the afternoon working out front planting and cleaning out the flowerbeds. It felt fabulous to be outdoors once again! I’m going to try to spend at least one day each weekend working in the yard–provided the rain keeps its distance! Have lots to do out back and I hope to get it all finished so that it will be ready for summer!
Had a civil engineer here today to determine why the back retaining wall is giving way into our neighbors’ yard. He thinks the leak from the pool in 2003 set everything in motion with the recent rains causing the wall to finally give way. Hopefully he can convince our insurance company that the pool leak was the ultimate cause. If so, they will pay for the repair. If not, it’s my responsibility. And probably quite costly. Should have a decision in a few weeks.
Patrick got extremely good news last week when he got approved for insurance through Kaiser. Meanwhile, I’ve called Huntington Hospital to ask for a reduction in his bill. They seemed receptive, so I’m hopeful. He’s not had any more kidney stone problems and at least he’ll have insurance if any remaining stones decide to vacate his kidneys.
Only about 2-1/2 months till “the wedding.” Am starting to get anxious. Not all that much that I need to do, but still feel the anxiety creeping in. Am going to try not to start/complete any home fixup projects until the first of June, knowing that I tend to try to do too much in too little time. And then I am crazed towards the end and wind up unable to finish. About the only thing I really want to do soon is clean out the garage. I still need to get my dress for the wedding and arrange for the rehearsal brunch. Glad I’m not in Kevin/Soula’s shoes right now, trying to coordinate all the last minute details.
