Southern California is on fire once again…and, in addition to that nightmare, the heat is brutal. We have four fires burning right now, two of which are near enough to us that it is difficult to breathe outdoors due to all the smoke in the air. The closest one is in La Canada-Flintridge, just to the north of us in the Angeles National Forest. I can see huge plumes of smoke from my front yard/driveway. It’s really scary since this is close enough that it could easily spread in our direction. Right now it’s burning away from us, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
And then there’s the heat. Today it got up to 106 degrees and it’s supposed to be hotter tomorrow. The humidity is really low which just adds to the fire danger. Right now it’s in the 80’s and it’s 11:00 pm! They are predicting these high temps well into next week, so I don’t expect we’ll get any relief any time soon.
Since I won’t be doing any heavy duty labor around the house this weekend, I’m going to start scanning pictures and documents into my computer. At least that way I will have important stuff saved should we have problems in the future with either fires or earthquakes. I keep saying I’m going to do this, so this weekend seems to be a good time to start.
