Tonight Patrick and I went to a neighbor’s birthday party. Harold Jackson has always lived across the street from us since we moved to Pasadena. His name is probably not familiar to most people, but his musical group may be: The Ink Spots. Harold is the last surviving member of the Ink Spots, joining the group sometime in the late 40’s. And he turned 100 years old on Friday, 10/8/10.
We were fortunate enough to be among Harold’s friends and to be invited to his birthday celebration at a local hotel this evening. It was wonderful to visit with him tonight as well as with his many family members and friends. He gave the world the gift of his music and tonight he gave everyone attending a CD compilation of his wonderful songs.
Thanks Harold! We had a great time and feel so grateful to have you as our neighbor.
