So much has been going on and I don’t know where to start. Some things may be out of chronological order as a result. Oh well.
The funeral for Vanessa’s mom took place last Tuesday. It was a beautiful service and lots of Vanessa’s friends and family were there. After the service at the cemetery we all went to an Asian buffet where you could get just about anything you ever wanted. I couldn’t eat many things because of my recent dental surgery…and didn’t want to eat many things just because. (Yuk, octopus and crawfish!)
I went to the dentist on Friday and finally got rid of the awful temporary teeth for a new set of temporary teeth–only these look like the real things and allow me much more freedom as far as eating. They look great and feel great so I’m hopeful that the final product that I’ll get eventually will work well.
On Saturday Patrick took me to get some new furniture for the family room. I got a new TV stand, coffee table and end table, all Mission Oak style. Patrick put everything together and set up the TV and all the peripherals that go with it. Thanks so much, Patrick! It’s amazing how much better the family room looks. I’ve decided to purchase another end table as well as a matching storage bench.
Meanwhile, in between all this, I’ve been working like crazy to get the house cleaned and organized for Easter. When everyone arrived on Sunday, I think it looked pretty good. Not everything was done, especially the bedrooms, but I just shut the doors to those rooms!
Easter was great! Patrick and Veronica brought a turducken (boneless turkey stuffed with a boneless chicken that was stuffed with a boneless duck) that was extremely delicious. I fixed lots of sides, so we wound up with a great meal that left all of us stuffed! We relaxed out back around the pool for the rest of the day and marveled at the wonderful weather! Veronica’s parents didn’t seem to be too excited about heading back to New York the following day.
I got Monday off, but wound up working from home in order to get everything finished in time for the Finance Committee meeting at work today. Today was exhausting after all the work yesterday and even more today. I’m just grateful I don’t have to do any accounting work tonight.
I also went to the doctor yesterday. He thinks I have a pinched nerve in my hip that is causing the pain I’ve been feeling in my right hip and leg. He seems to think that 20-30 min. of walking each day will help this to go away. Meanwhile, I’m taking lots of ibuprofin and trying to fit it some time for the walking each day.
My sister Kelly was hospitalized yesterday with a severe infection in her heel. Because she is diabetic and has numerous other medical problems, they decided to put her in the hospital to lance her heel and put her on antibiotics and pain killers. She was doing ok tonight and is grateful to be in the hospital for this procedure. She should be going home either tomorrow or the next day.
So now I’m getting off this computer to relax. I’ve had enough of computers for awhile.
