Just read an article in one of the San Francisco papers saying that most of the people at Burning Man don’t know about Hurricane Katrina. Guess it’s probably just as well that they don’t know. Why give them such dismal news that would only put a damper on the event. There’s nothing they can do […]

As people die in the streets of New Orleans, it seems our country is not doing nearly enough. How is it that we can have troops and supplies in place within only a day or two after the Tsunami, but four days after a monster hurricane in our own country results in people dying from […]

It seems that God is not too overwhelmed by all the needs in Louisiana and Mississippi. He/she must have heard the large outcry from Jean’s family and friends and decided it was a good idea to shut these people up in order to get on with other business. In other words, Jean’s surgery went well. […]

It started off with the first day back at work after being off for a week’s vacation, which is always rough. Finally got most everything caught up by week’s end, but didn’t get everything done that I had hoped to do. But isn’t that always the way it is. Sunday and Monday (8/21 & 8/22) […]

My sister does not have lung cancer! She met with the urologist today and has scheduled surgery to remove one of her kidneys on 8/30. Then they will treat her with meds to strengthen her immune system to fight off the tumors that have spread to her lungs. The kidney they will be removing has […]

I just found out this afternoon that my sister, Jean, has kidney cancer. I didn’t even know such a thing existed. It has spread to the lymph nodes surrounding her kidneys and they believe it may also have spread to her lungs. We’ll know more tomorrow. This whole scenario is just unbelievable. She had no […]

I had a great time! I am totally exhausted after waiting in line for about 3 hours just to get into the show area! Once inside we spent another 2 hours in line for the various appraisal areas…but it was still worth it. I personally met both Leigh and Leslie Keno (the twins!) who appraise […]

Another week of vacation time is on the horizon. I’ll be off next week, but not going anywhere. Staying at home to get some projects started–and a few finished up! The bathroom still needs crown molding along with door trim, so I’d like to get that finished up–and then give the bathroom a good cleaning […]

My sister Sally’s doberman, Kala, died in her sleep last night. Kala was a beautiful dog and will be missed by all. She was extremely friendly and lovable. I couldn’t sit down on the couch when visiting without having Kala right next to me with her head on my lap. I will miss her. All […]

Damn glad I live here and not in Phoenix! The fucking heat is brutal and it was accompanied by humidity as thunderstorms rolled through the area. While the rain and lightening was kinda cool to see (and did cool things down about 20 degrees for a short time), the weather was extremely unpleasant overall. It […]

It’s been a rough weekend. The heat continues to do a number on me. Am getting very little done around here as my energy continues to be drained. I just can’t get going in the morning when it’s already in the 80’s and humid by 9 am. This week will be busy at work, but […]

All you need is a bar of soap and shampoo, and you could bathe in our pool–it’s that warm! If this hot weather continues, the pool will easily be over 90 degrees by August. It’s already 86 degrees in the pool right now–warmer than the outside air! It feels great when you get out…the first […]

I know I said I wasn’t going to complain, but this is ridiculous! I didn’t move to California for heat coupled with high humidity! It rained here today which just added to the heaviness in the air. Went outside around 3 pm and came back in barely able to breathe along with chest pains. I […]

I’m trying not to complain about the heat. I said I would welcome it back a few months ago when the unending rain and cold weather seemed like it would never end. And I am happy to have warmth rather than that nasty cold, wet weather. But I would prefer just a tad cooler than […]

It’s over. Back to work again tomorrow. Yuk! Really not that upset about going back, but there’s just so much I had planned to do last week that I didn’t get finished. Oh well. Planned to do a lot of outdoor cleaning in the backyard as well as the area between the kitchen and garage, […]

I’m having trouble doing things today. Can’t get interested in much other than watching CNN reports about the bombings in London. Have tried to switch to HGTV or something else to have on in the background while I finish painting, but keep going back to CNN. Need to get the painting finished–only have the ceiling […]

And so I begin my second week of vacation this year! First week was for Kevin & Soula’s wedding in Vegas in May. Lots of fun, but not really all that restful. This week will be spent entirely at home, catching up on fix-up projects. Will be starting tomorrow on finishing up painting the family […]

As I sat at my desk on the second floor of the office building at All Saints, the building began to move. I remembered the feeling and headed out. Earthquake. It started out with just a slight shaking and then the building really began to move. I wasn’t waiting for anyone to make a decision […]

I am sooo happy! The Lakers have rehired Phil Jackson as their coach for the next 3 years! After the disaster that was the past season, I think all the Lakers fans had just about given up hope. This past year I watched 5 regular season games. The year before I watched all 82 regular […]

Finally! Got up into the 80’s today. Only problem is a bit of humidity due to the clouds and fog that come in overnight and burn off in the morning. I’m still happy that summer is finally here, even if it’s a bit humid. Patrick reinstalled the a/c in his room since he woke up […]
