The nice, warm, sunny weather gave me the opportunity to get all the Christmas stuff back into the garage–finally! Then got busy outside trimming down all the roses and doing some weeding and cleaning up in the backyard. Not yet completely done, but it looks lots better out back, and the front looks great–especially since […]

It seems Murphy picked up a few ticks today while hiking in the mountains with Patrick. Ticks are nasty. We’ve found at least 5 on poor Murphy so far–had to burn their heads and then pull them out with tweezers. They’re extremely difficult to see, so we have to wait for Murphy to scratch or […]

All the leaves are brown and the sky is gray… I’ve been longin’ for a walk on a summer’s day… Finally, it seems we’re not just dreaming for our wonderful California weather, as the rain has stopped. Never have I seen rain in such massive quantities or lasting for such a long period of time. […]

Somehow I like 2005 better than 2004. I don’t know why, but I think it has something to do with accounting and numbers and all that. When I fill up my gas tank I always like to round off the amount so that it ends either in 5 or zero. So 2005 just seems better. […]

Alas, had to head back to work today. Fortunately the rain stopped long enough for me to get into work without using an umbrella and stopped in the late afternoon so that I could get home without too many traffic problems. My office window leaked during one of the storms (probably last night), so all […]

Off work today thankfully as it is pouring down rain! The pool is filled to the brim and I expect it will overflow if we get the downpours they are predicting. The winds are very strong with hurricane force gusts predicted throughout the day. My lighted arbor at the front of the house (Christmas decoration) […]

Christmas has come and gone, and I’m left with a strange sense of relief coupled with disappointment that it ended so quickly. We spend all this time preparing for these few days–and then it’s done. All was finished on time and we sat around the fire on Christmas Eve, listening to carols and munching on […]

Am off work today…sick. Some kind of bug decided to take up residence in my head and throat, and is trying to make it’s way into my chest. That’s always the worst, taking the longest to get over. So, I’m hopeful I am able to get rid of it before it gets imbedded down below! […]

Thanksgiving was hardly over when Loki pulled his usual pre-Christmas holiday surprise…we discovered a large abscess under his right leg on Friday. Of course the vet was closed for the long holiday weekend so I had to wait ’til Monday to take him in. He had surgery that same day and came home that night. […]

I ate way too much yesterday. Everything turned out great and I pigged out way more than I should have. Wound up going to bed after chewing a bunch of tums. In fact, fell asleep for most of “The Apprentice.” Woke up just in time to see who got fired, but have no idea why […]

The pumpkin pies are in the oven and I’m about ready to put the turkey in the brine solution to soak overnight. All the other goodies are waiting to be cooked tomorrow. Just have to figure out how I’m going to fit everything in the oven since my new stove only has one oven rather […]

That’s right, you did read it correctly! Patrick and some of his friends are snowed in up in the mountains at Big Bear! They went up on Friday to a cabin owned by the parents of one of the girls for a fun weekend, planning to return home Sunday afternoon. What they didn’t count on–and […]

Thanksgiving is next week!?! I am not ready for this. I expected to have everything on my list almost finished by now. Somehow that hasn’t happened. Part of the problem has to do with a new client I’ve acquired. I’m trying to enter all their old data from 2003 from handwritten entries in a check […]

Have been watching “$40 a Day” in Las Vegas on Food Network. They just went to a place called The Hookah Lounge. Every table has a hookah and they serve some really great drinks…and the drinks were cheap! They also went to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino where you can get a special that’s […]

It’s cold! All I want to do is curl up under the covers with a good book. Unfortunately I need to get busy tonight setting up accounting records for a new client. Yuk! Should have started this about a week ago, but am just not eager to sit and do data entry. Oh well, the […]

I’ve been hit five times now by some asshole spammers that continue to post comments to every one of my blogs–some of which are extremely disgusting! Because I’m getting tired of deleting all this garbage (3 times today!), I started going through my website ‘options’ and discovered you can turn on some kind of anti-spam […]

Am getting over the election depression and getting on with things. Lots going on at work and at home and just can’t let myself get caught up in all the turmoil as to why Kerry lost and who’s to blame. What’s done is done and I can’t do a damn thing to change it, so […]

Interesting that the 2004 election took place on All Souls Day, better known in many parts of the country (and the world) as the Day of the Dead. For those of us hoping for change, those immediate hopes indeed died as John Kerry conceded the presidential race. But as we’ve heard all our lives, “Hope […]

Since 1936 the last home game the Washington Redskins have played before the election has correctly predicted the presidential winner. If the Redskins win, then the incumbent party stays in office. If they lose…well, you get the idea. Today the Redskins played the Green Bay Packers and the score was Packers 28, Redskins 14. Oh […]

Patrick’s party last night was lots of fun! All thought my kitty litter cake was totally gross–exactly the reaction I had hoped for! And Patrick’s custard pudding snacks at the appropriate point in the movie “Dead Alive” were received with universal groans! Costumes were creative and lots of fun. All were homemade concoctions which I […]
